Our Elite Academy is designed to provide an environment where players can be challenged appropriately alongside players of a similar ability. The weekly sessions allow players to build on the basics of cricket and work on those extra skills that there just isn’t always time for at club training.
The Academy is for those aged 6+ all the way through to the later teenage years. Players will be split into groups based on ability and experience,
Micros, Micros Plus, Foals, Colts and Elites.
*Micros is for those aged 6+ and is predominantly soft ball, with some introduction to
hard ball where appropriate
*Micros Plus is for those aged 9+ ready to start introducing hard ball. The aim is to gain confidence with hard ball and keep working on general cricket skills with soft ball content too
*Foals is the next step for those with at least a seasons+ hard ball experience
*Colts will be for those who have been playing hard ball games for 2/3 years+
*Elites will be for those aged 13+ playing adult cricket
Players will be moved around groups as appropriate to create the correct level of
challenge. This may mean they are with children younger or older than they are. The ages given above are a rough guide only. We do not base the groups on age or hard ball experience alone. There are several factors considered when looking at groupings including a criteria that coaches work off.
Sessions will be led by our experienced coaches Alex Bingham, Matt Askin, Jack Dudley, Dan Hickman and Ben Hopkins. The coaches rotate groups so all coaches are familiar with every child in every group. This helps when planning sessions and splitting groups during the sessions and also when looking at who is ready to move up and when as the team are all involved in the discussions. We ask parents to respect our processes and leave grouping decisions to the coaches.
The sessions will be engaging, thought provoking and designed to support players through their particular stage of development.
